Chamois

Description

What is a chamois (pronounced ‘shammy’) and why is it better than microfibre towels?

When was the last time you took a shower and didn’t bother drying yourself off...thoroughly? Sounds ridiculous right? Yet so many vehicle owners don’t ‘finish the job’ when getting their vehicle washed. They end it at the wash! The result? Spots and streaks and the feeling that you never even washed your ride in the first place!

A ‘wash’ is incomplete without a good ‘dry’. It’s true for our bodies, our dishes, our clothes and it is equally true when it comes to our vehicles! Just driving a bit faster on the way home from the wash doesn’t constitute a proper dry process!

Yet what you dry with is just as important as the decision to dry itself. So what is the difference between using a chamois versus the popular microfibre cloth?

Microfibre cloths are readily available. Not all are designed for automotive use so be sure to check!
These are somewhat inexpensive and come in a variety of sizes. The downside of microfibre is that you typically will need multiple towels even for just a single vehicle. They also leave streaks when damp and if they are the cheaper kind, they can leave small particles of cotton on your vehicle’s surface.

Chamois, on the other hand, have been proven to be one of the most effective products to dry vehicles (even large ones) due to their superior absorbency! They work great on large surfaces and only one is needed to dry an entire vehicle.

At Alpine Auto Wash we know that true car wash connoisseurs take that extra time not only to dry but to dry right! That’s why we carry chamois for purchase in our shop. Have one in your vehicle for your next wash and dry. Our chamois are the real deal, genuine leather, and affordably priced starting at $8.99 up to $11.99 depending on the size you require.
