St Albert’s Chocolate Maker!
There is a difference between a chocolate maker and a chocolatier; the two terms are not interchangeable. My name is Tammy MacDonald and I am proud to say that I wear both ‘chefs’ hats as a chocolate maker AND chocolatier! Here’s what I do as a chocolate maker:
What is the difference between a chocolatier and chocolate maker?
As a chocolatier I craft the chocolate I make using recipes to create bon bons, bars, and confections. Chocolatiers rely on the expertise of chocolate makers to provide the source ingredient, namely pure, rich, beautiful chocolate from dried cacao beans!
The bean-to-bar chocolate I make is created in-house from organic Direct Trade cacao beans sourced from different regions. This is a labour-intensive process. It requires skill, it requires precision. The process entails roasting, cracking, winnowing, grinding, and refining. You could say the chocolate maker does the heavy lifting, the grunt work where the chocolatier gets to do the glam work. I am proud to do both in order to bring to St Albert and surrounding area the what my customers decribe as the finest bean-to-bar chocolate around!
