A COMPANY BUILT ON ONE MAN'S VISION
Embark on a journey rooted in the vision of a young Karim Hakimi, who began his eyewear venture by grinding magnifying glasses from old windowpanes in Iran. From humble beginnings, he honed various aspects of the eyewear business, mastering everything from lens grinding to equipment maintenance.
THE BEGINNING OF SOMETHING BIG
At the age of 19, Hakimi ventured beyond his borders, serving in the Iranian Navy and later emigrating to Germany and Switzerland to learn modern methods of grinding optical lenses. In 1967, he brought his expertise to Canada, opening his own optical business in downtown Toronto's former Elmwood Hotel dance hall. With rebuilt equipment and a passion for excellence, Hakimi began knocking on doors, offering value, selection, and excellent customer service.
