Deep Tissue/Therapeutic Massage

Description

What is therapeutic massage?

Unlike relaxation massage, therapeutic massage has as its aim namely achieving the desired result, usually a structural change or as the name implies a therapeutic change. This style of massage is characterized by the mobilization of soft tissue. Soft tissue includes things like muscles, tendons, and fascia, among others. RMTs work at restoring normal functional use of these tissues.

What are the benefits of a therapeutic massage?

Typically the structures of the body requiring therapeutic massage are deep in the body. The heavier pressure applied during treatment releases tissue that is more difficult to access in the body. After an injury, adhesions and scar tissue develop as the body’s response to repairing itself. These can impact mobility and cause pain. Therapeutic massage is designed to break up such adhesions and scar tissue.

What can you expect from Lasting Therapy?

Although you may be thinking that this style of massage sounds painful it doesn’t always have to be that way. Our RMTs are skilled and even though there may be some therapeutic discomfort, our clients typically find that they feel much better at the end of their session and see a noticeable difference in mobility and less discomfort.
