As a family-owned business established in March 2001, we've been serving the cycling community for over 20 years. What started as a modest 1200 sq ft shop in St. Albert has grown and expanded twice to our current spacious 3500 sq ft size. In early 2019, we embarked on a new adventure by opening our second location in Riverbend Square, followed by the opening of our third location in Unity Square in April 2022. Throughout these expansions, one thing has remained unchanged: our unwavering dedication to our customers and the community we serve.

Cranky's Bike Shop has a rich history that began with owner Andrew Phelps' unwavering determination to establish his own bike shop. In pursuit of his passion, Andrew traveled to Oregon in 1998 to attend the prestigious United Bicycle Institute, where he earned his certification as a bicycle mechanic. That same year, together with his wife Angela, they founded their first venture, Cranky's Bike Repair, operating out of their garage and providing exceptional bike repair services.
After two years of meticulous planning, Cranky's Bike Shop was born. As proud residents of St. Albert, the Phelps family had a strong desire to establish their bicycle shop within their own community. With great anticipation, Cranky's opened its doors in the new Bruin Centre located in the vibrant Perron District on a warm day in March 2001, a day free of snow. Since that momentous day, Cranky's has undergone remarkable transformations.
In late 2008, Cranky's doubled in size, evolving into a premier local bike shop catering to the diverse interests and abilities of cyclists. Recognizing the need for an enhanced service department and clothing section, Cranky's underwent another expansion in 2013, creating a more spacious and well-equipped environment for customers.
The summer of 2015 brought yet another milestone as Cranky's was appointed an authorized dealer of Cervelo, a prestigious addition to the already outstanding lineup of brands including Trek, Giant, and Electra. This recognition as an authorized Cervelo dealer, along with being named a top 20 Canadian Trek Dealer for 2015, further solidified Cranky's reputation for excellence.
As 2016 marked the 15th anniversary of Cranky's Bike Shop, the milestone was celebrated with great joy and gratitude. It's remarkable how time has flown by, yet the commitment and dedication of Andrew, Angela, and their daughters, Emma and Abbey, remain unwavering. They continue to serve and assist the wonderful customers who have played a vital role in shaping Cranky's Bike Shop into the thriving establishment it is today.
