Who doesn’t love the smell of fresh flowers? Or the smell of a good meal? How does it make you feel? The power of aroma is undeniable. Have you ever smelled something and were instantly transported back to moments in your childhood or it reminded you of a person or a trip or place?! The smell instantly triggered not only a memory but a feeling that is associated with that memory. ie. happiness, contentment, sadness etc.
How does aroma evoke a memory and emotions? Here is a somewhat simplified explanation. When an aroma is inhaled, it travels to the olfactory system, which is responsible for controlling our sense of smell. The olfactory system is connected to the limbic system, where our memories and emotions live. The limbic system then produces a response. All of that happens immediately just from inhaling a scent/aroma.
Essential oils can be used to manage our emotions from being sad, frustrated, depressed, anxious, angry to happy, relaxed, calm, focussed, motivated. For example, when I diffuse Peace Essential Oil Blend, I am immediately reminded of my grandma and my childhood and makes me instantly happy and calm. Being able to manage your Mood and Emotions naturally is empowering. Would you like to learn more about essential oils and how they can help you?
